Yes the fabric is vintage, my work colleague rescued it from her mother's stash after she passed away.
It is slightly textured (kind of like corduroy). The piece is 90cm wide by 330cm long, any suggestions about what I can make from it?
FYI - I also have a few patterns from the 40s, 50s and 60s that I need to trace so I can return them and a copy of "Ladies Garment Cutting and Making" by Morris, which was published at the beginning of the 40s, it contains instructions for drafting all kinds of garments from the 40s, the book will take sometime to copy.
Yay for early birthday presents!
On Monday I got to catch up with Mari who I hadn' seen in a while. At one point she asked me "so are you opposed to early birthday presents?" I replied "no". To which she said "well then, comeover tomorrow night"
So on Tuesday I go over to Mari's place for dinner and she presents me with the following.
The red and the purple yarn is 60% Alpaca/ 40% Merino Wool each skein is (100g and 133 metres) and orange is 55% wool and 45% mohair (100g and 100metres).
Now all I have to do is to decide what to knit with it.
I fought in my second tourney on the weekend, like my first time out I died somewhat quickly but I had fun.
Here is some Youtube Footage (I am wearing a St Florian tabard).
Can wait for the next tourney which is in about 3 weeks.
No I didn't make it was an old frock of Stanzi's but it fit really well!
Edit: here is a link to the flickr account.
I reckon I have one of the best bunch of friends anyone could hope for.
